Technique
There are several types of operations to reduce the volume of the mammary glands. Their differences lie in the methods of tissue removal, incisions and the final shape of postoperative scars. The plastic surgeon chooses the breast reduction technique individually, depending on the structural features, degree of enlargement and ptosis of the mammary glands.
How is the operation performed?
- Breast reduction is always performed under general anesthesia. The duration of the operation depends on the above parameters and ranges from 2.5 to 6 hours.
- The surgeon removes excess tissue and creates a beautifully shaped breast.
- The asymmetry of the mammary glands is corrected and the areolas are reduced.
Rehabilitation
After surgery, patients stay in the clinic for 24 hours. Next, dressings are required, which are performed on an outpatient basis.
Recommendations for better healing:
- The first 4 weeks – constantly wearing a compression bra all the time, and then another 2 weeks only during the day, removing it at night.
- You can take a shower from day 3 or the next day after the drainage is removed, but baths, saunas and swimming pools will have to be excluded for 2 months.
- Limit loads to 2 – 3 months.
- Do not visit the solarium or be under the sun until the scars fade.
Control examinations are carried out after 1, 3, 6, 12 months. You can admire the final result of the correction after 3 to 6 months.
